This country guest house in Maien Obereichsel is one of the oldest restaurants on the "Dinkelberg". Already in 1749, on 8 March the property received from the court of the Austrian domination Rheinfelden - Eichsel - the Justice Shield. This was the privilege of showing by a tavern sign to serve food and drinks in the House.

The roots of the family of the current owners are going back to the early 19th Century, they ran the inn "for the wild man" in Niedereichsel. The former wild man-host Louis Kessler bought in the summer of 1894, the at this time closed inn "Maien".

"Maien", in the last century also called "Golden Maien," is thus in family ownership since 1894. The early 16th-Century house has been thoroughly refurbished and in 1994 was a wing added to the hotel and in 2005 expanded to include a conservatory and a new reception and lobby.

It is now operated by the fourth and fifth generations of the family Börner.
